I never have done pack walk until very recently, and I was in for the snowshoe trip so desperately needed to get a good sleeping system. I asked around, and heard about Dark Moon Hiking. Upon contacting Dark Moon Hiking, Deb quickly responded and helped me deciding which product works best for me. There are so many products out there with so much information, it is like a maze, so Deb providing the information was so helpful. Deb also quickly sewed up the quilt to meet my snowshoe trip date. I am a sewer and I know that is a lot of stitches she has done in a very short time. Don't know how she did it!!

Waratah quilt -10c definitely kept me warm sleeping on the snow. I look forward to using it open on the warmer seasons. It is so fun to be able to choose the colours too.

Recieved my quilt Friday before last having reached out to Deb in a bit of a pickle last minute before starting the Bibbulmun track.

Deb was very responsive to my initial queries and subsequent follow up emails.
Bearing in mind I was starting the track in less than 2 weeks from the intial contact she had my quilt sown, filled and at my door step in 10 days!!! Impressive is an understatement considering the quality of the end product.

The quilt it’s self is truly amazing, I went for the -5 comfort rating as wanted some 3 season versatility in multiple climates. Is certainly more than enough for the Bibbulmun, has kept me nice and toastie whilst not being zipped or cinched at the feet.
Not that appearance affects performance but the quilt truly looks amazing and have had a few people asking questions in the huts which says a lot about the craftsmanship that Deb provides.

Too top it off Deb provides a simple and easy to read care sheet as well which is a lovely touch even for those that had owned down bags/quilts in the past.

Safe to say Deb has gained another loyal customer and I have no doubt I will be back for some more of her products in the future.

I've had my Waratah for a few weeks now and slept in it 4 times now and I'm absolutely blown away, it's stunning! The craftsmanship is excellent, and the comfort and warmth to weight ratio is a 10/10 for me. It completes my sleep system. I slept so soundly in the valley and also in the peaks - it performed perfectly with big temperature variations. I also didn’t realise my quilt has a top flap — such a great surprise! It keeps the drafts away and makes it extra cosy. I used to have one on my Nemo sleeping bag but had to return it due to a quality issue, so I’m thrilled to have it back again with this quilt.

The only minor thing is that I didn’t expect the strap to be white. It might get dirty quicker, but since it’ll be tucked under my pad, it’s no big deal 🤷🏼‍♂️

I've received my new sleeping bag, and I'm very pleased. Debra provides a great personal service and seems to take great pride in making her sleeping bags. The down is extremely plush and seems to be of high quality. The stitching also seems very strong and tidy. The design with the footbox that can be opened is great, and the neck collar and closure strings seem perfectly placed. And as you can see I made use of the customisable colours which was great fun. What's not to like! Now I need to find time for some overnight hikes.

I decided to get a quilt as I was a side sleeper. I am section hiking the Te Araroa Trail in New Zealand and so needed something that covered all the bases. I got the -5°C quilt as I had experienced snow on the trail. Since getting the quilt I have had to sleep by the sea in 25°C heat but was able to pull the end up off my feet and top down lower on my torso. I have also slept in an alpine area where the temperature was down to 3°C with the foot box zipped up and the top around my neck cinched with no extra layers of clothing. Both times I had a great night's sleep. This along with a decent sleeping pad is the perfect sleep system for me. Thank you Debra your quilts are the best !!!

I just did a winter hike in the Negev Desert and my -5 bag kept me toasty warm, even sleeping outside. Worth noting that the baffles are arranged differently to how they appear in the pictures here (similar design to quilt but with zip all the way) but it doesn’t affect comfort or function. Very happy!

Absolutely love my custom Waratah quilt! Was always hesitant to try a quilt but after several sleeping bags to no avail, I decided to take the plunge and have zero regrets! I've finally had a great night sleep on the trails!

Really impressed on the first outing, the bag is made to a high standard and even though it feels fragile compared to my 20 YO sleeping bag it is far from fragile. Going from a bag to a quilt in a hammock, getting organised is so much easier.

Recieved my quilt the other day. I live in lutruwita (Tasmania). Its a custom quilt, reg/wide, black on black, -10 with 75g overstuff. I havent taken it on country yet but ive been in it. Its lofty, toasty warm and so lightweight. Strapped to my 25 x 72 inch pad perfectly. Great quality materials and craftsmanship. Accessories are fantastic. Cant wait to pack it out on my next trip. Have used the quilt on a couple of camping trips in Australia and a 4 day trek in Grand Canyon. Love it! Very comfy and warm. Haven't had any super cold nights so far, only down to about 6 degrees, but have never felt cold. Love how it opens up and doubles as a blanket to wrap around your shoulders when watching the sunrise.
