- What is Dyneema® Composite Fabric (DCF), and why do you use it?
DCF (formerly known as Cuben Fiber) is an advanced, high-performance non-woven composite material. It offers an incredible strength-to-weight ratio, is 100% waterproof, and does not absorb water or stretch when wet. It's the gold standard for ultralight backpackers who want maximum durability with minimum pack weight.
- Are your storage sacks and zipper pouches completely waterproof?
The DCF fabric itself is waterproof. While our bags are constructed with precision and feature water-resistant zippers, they are designed as highly weather-resistant gear organizers and food/storage sacks. For total submersion protection, we always recommend pairing them with proper packing techniques.
- How do I maintain my down quilt or sleeping bag?
To keep your down lofted and performing at its best:
On the trail: Give your quilt time to loft up after unpacking it each evening. Protect it from prolonged moisture.
At home: Never store your quilt compressed in a tight stuff sack long-term. Store it uncompressed in a large cotton storage bag or hang it up in a dry, well-ventilated space to protect the down clusters.
Washing: When cleaning is necessary, hand-wash gently with a specialized technical down detergent (like Nikwax Down Wash) or machine wash on a delicate, front-loading cycle with cold water. Tumble dry on low with clean tennis balls or dryer balls to break up clumps and restore loft.
